Venus Drowning(2005)

Venus Drowning is a surreal British film following Dawn, a woman recovering from a suicide attempt who retreats to a remote seaside flat in Norfolk. Heavily medicated and adrift, she discovers a dying mutant mermaid foetus on an empty beach and becomes obsessed with nursing it back to life. When her Swedish friend Milla visits for the weekend, the creature—hidden in the cellar—begins to feed on the sexual energy radiating through the flat, growing stronger and stranger. As the boundaries between reality and hallucination blur, Dawn finds herself drawn deeper into an increasingly bizarre relationship with her mysterious charge. The film explores isolation, desire, and psychological fragmentation through a darkly fantastical lens, blending body horror with intimate character study.
