Inde Est. Blackberry Painting is a film portrait of cinema critic and situationist theorist Enrico Ghezzi, captured by artist Miltos Manetas during the 2013 Internet Pavilion at Venice's Church of San Ludovico. The work documents Ghezzi's eight-hour durational performance—a mute speech inspired by Persius's Latin phrase on time's passage. Ghezzi, a cult figure of Italian television known for his radical overnight broadcast Fuori Orario since 1988, delivers his characteristic out-of-sync monologue in silence. Manetas films the performance using his signature BlackBerry Painting technique, a hybrid method combining simultaneous recording and painting that defines his artistic practice. The resulting portrait merges performance art, video documentation, and digital painting into a singular meditation on speech, time, and the image.
