Atlantic Rhapsody is a Chinese film that begins when Ding Mao, a supermarket worker, accidentally cooks the store's ornamental shark and starts hearing a strange voice. This sets him on an unlikely journey from a southern city into the frozen wilderness of Northeast China, searching for his estranged father. Along the way, Mao uncovers fragments of his father's surreal past through abandoned amusement parks, a winter zoo, and the supermarket where shark meat is sold. The mysterious voice guides him toward an eccentric cast: an experimental musician, a blind fortune-teller fluent in animal language, a shark-attack survivor turned trainer, and a female picture book illustrator. Their paths converge in this surreal, darkly comic tale that weaves together loss, obsession, and the strange connections that bind broken lives together.
