Appalachian Spring(1944)

Appalachian Spring is a dance drama set on the American frontier that follows a newlywed pioneer couple as they celebrate their life through movement and ritual. Guided by a reverent Revivalist and a wise Pioneer Woman, the couple dances and courts while sharing in the folk tradition of "Simple Gifts." Their joy is disrupted by the looming threat of war, but the community ultimately finds solace and hope in a final hymn-like gathering.
