This Love That Consumes(2012)

This Love That Consumes is a Brazilian documentary following two lifelong dance partners who have shared four decades together. After relocating to a sprawling, dilapidated building in downtown Rio de Janeiro, Gatto and Barbot establish their dance company and begin rehearsals within its crumbling walls. The film weaves together the practical struggles of daily survival with their artistic vision and spiritual devotion to the Orixás, the gods of Afro-Brazilian tradition. Through movement and performance, they reclaim urban space and assert their presence across the city. The documentary captures how dance becomes both a creative outlet and a form of resistance, rooted in cultural heritage and personal resilience.
