Hell Squad is a World War II film following five American soldiers who become separated in Tunisia and are systematically killed in combat with German forces. When only Private Russo survives, he finds himself stranded in a minefield facing a German officer. The two men negotiate a tense exchange: Russo's water for the officer's map of safe passage through the mines. But the German has other plans, setting up a deadly game of deception and survival. Made on 16mm film during weekends in Indio, California, Hell Squad marked the directorial debut of Burt Topper and the film debut of actor Wally Campo, shot with a small group of friends on a minimal budget.
