Vienna in War(1916)

Vienna in War is a wartime comedy following Franz Xaver Wamperl, a widowed butcher, and his son Ferdl as they enlist in the army. While Ferdl rises to platoon leader, he maintains a secret that threatens to unravel: three separate fiancées back in Vienna—Franzi, Resl, and Poldi—each believing he's devoted solely to her. All three faithfully write passionate letters while he's at the front. When father and son return on May Day leave for a brief respite, their café gathering becomes chaos. Poldi and Franzi arrive simultaneously, and when they discover Ferdl's romantic duplicity, tears and accusations fly. Ferdl's attempt to escape only plunges him deeper into conflict as the two women clash over his affections, leaving him caught between love and loyalty.
