The Nest of Wasps(1987)

The Nest of Wasps is a 1936-set Romanian drama following three formidable sisters from a wealthy merchant family who command their household with absolute authority in Bucharest, then celebrated as the "Paris of the East". When ambitious journalist Mircea Aldea marries into their clan, he discovers that joining the Duduleanu dynasty comes at a steep cost. His marriage quickly unravels as he finds himself caught between his own ambitions and the sisters' iron grip on family affairs.
