Heimat ist kein Ort is a German film about three estranged siblings forced to reconcile when their father's will demands they scatter his ashes across East Prussia. Klaus, an unemployed taxi driver; Uwe, a gay dog sitter; and Inge, a strict nurse, grew up without their mother and were abandoned by their father. Now they expect to inherit money and property, but the old man's final wish sends them on an unexpected journey through their homeland instead. Accompanied by a young Polish notary tasked with ensuring they comply, the siblings travel to meaningful locations from their father's past. The road trip becomes a voyage of self-discovery, leading them through mishaps and unlikely moments of grace—even nearly landing them in Polish prison and at a stranger's wedding. Along the way, each sibling gains new understanding of their father and themselves.
