American Descent is a found-footage thriller that begins when a group of teenagers receive a mysterious DVD from a U.S. Army base in Afghanistan. The disc contains footage of a woman bound to a tree and a cryptic clue that sets them on a dangerous trail. Following each lead to the next, the teens realize their scavenger hunt has transformed into something far more sinister—they're being hunted by Sergeant First Class Stephen Harris, a disturbed military operative with a calculated agenda. What appeared to be an innocent game becomes a nightmarish descent into the mind of a psychopath. As the teenagers piece together the horrifying truth, they discover they're not players but pawns in an elaborate revenge scheme orchestrated by someone trained in the art of warfare and manipulation. The film explores how ordinary teens become entangled in a deadly game where the rules were written long before they received that first package.
