My Family is a multigenerational drama following a Mexican immigrant family across three decades in Los Angeles. Maria and Jose arrive in the 1930s, marry, and narrowly escape deportation before establishing roots in East L.A. Their six children navigate the challenges of the 1950s—gang culture, police harassment, and assimilation—while growing up between two worlds. By the 1960s, the narrative centers on Jimmy, the youngest son, as he marries Isabel, a Salvadoran refugee, and confronts the responsibilities of fatherhood. The film traces how each generation grapples with poverty, identity, and belonging, celebrating both the resilience and the quiet victories that define the immigrant experience in postwar America.
