Der Zigeunerbaron is a 1954 film adaptation of Johann Strauss's celebrated operetta, directed by Arthur Rabenalt and starring Paul Hörbiger and Margit Saad. Set in a small Puszta village, the story follows a refugee who seeks a wealthy match for his daughter by promising her hand to a pig breeder neighbor. To sweeten the deal, he claims nobility—a title bestowed upon him by local gypsies who've crowned him their baron. The operetta blends the sweeping waltzes of Vienna's golden age with the fiery rhythms of Hungarian folk music and Csárdás tradition.
