Simple Minds: New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84)(2016)

Simple Minds: New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84) is the Scottish band's landmark 1982 album on Virgin Records, their second for the label and the first to feature drummer Mel Gaynor. The record catapulted Simple Minds into worldwide prominence, spawning hit singles including "Promised You A Miracle," "Glittering Prize," and "Someone Somewhere In Summertime." The synth-driven new wave sound defined the band's commercial breakthrough. In 2005, Virgin released a DVD-Audio remaster remixed by Ronald Prent in 5.1 surround sound, with a stereo downmix included. Most tracks received the surround treatment, though multitrack tapes for "Colours Fly and Catherine Wheel" and "Promised You a Miracle" were unavailable. The reissue restored the bonus track "In Every Heaven," previously lost due to improper labeling on the master tape.
