Cindy(1978)

Cindy is a revisionist Cinderella tale set in Harlem during World War II, featuring an all-Black cast. The film follows a young woman who relocates from South Carolina to live with her father and his new family, only to face mistreatment from her stepmother and stepsisters. When they refuse to let her attend the prestigious Sugar Hill Ball, her charming neighbor—a draft-dodging chauffeur—helps her get there with some improvised "magic."
