The False Step(1965)

The False Step is a French thriller about a woman whose life unravels after witnessing her husband's fatal fall from a cliff near Marseille. Rather than call for help, Elisa Langerot fabricates a story about a stolen car and flags down a passing driver, Philippe Morçot, who takes pity on her and offers shelter. What begins as a simple act of kindness becomes a descent into deception when Elisa's web of lies, fantasies and paranoia ensnares Philippe in her dangerous world. As the truth about that fateful day emerges, both characters find themselves trapped by secrets neither can escape.
