Chutes de Lacrima Christi(1984)
Chutes de Lacrima Christi is an experimental film assembled from unused outtakes of Teo Hernández's earlier work Lacrima Christi. Created with Gaël Badaud between 1979 and 1980, it transforms discarded Super 8 color footage into non-linear vignettes that blend Christian mythology with everyday imagery. Using the "chute" technique—physically gluing film scraps into new sequences—the work explores the meeting of Europe and America, uncovering dreamlike resonances in mundane moments. By repurposing offcuts from the Passion tetralogy, Hernández reveals hidden narratives and poetic meaning in material originally considered surplus. The result is a meditation on how discarded fragments can be reassembled into something profound and unexpected.
