Paper Birds is a Spanish drama set in the aftermath of the Civil War, following four vaudeville performers stripped of everything but their will to survive. Musician Jorge, ventriloquist Enrique, singer Rocío, and orphan Miguel navigate a devastated landscape, caught between victors and vanquished, searching desperately for food and shelter. As hunger and desperation mount, the bonds between them are tested by the brutal realities of displacement and loss. The film captures the raw human struggle for dignity and connection when society has collapsed, revealing how art and companionship become lifelines in the darkest times.
