File Under Miscellaneous(2010)

File Under Miscellaneous is a dystopian film following a spiritually broken Mi'kmaq man living in poverty within a decaying urban landscape. Desperate to escape his marginalized existence, he seeks out a surgical clinic—its storefront grotesquely displaying severed skin and limbs—determined to undergo a horrifying procedure that will strip away his Indigenous identity. The film explores themes of cultural erasure, assimilation, and the brutal costs of survival in a system designed to reject him. Through visceral body horror and unflinching social commentary, it examines what happens when a person internalizes the prejudices of a society that devalues his very existence. Dark, provocative, and deeply unsettling, File Under Miscellaneous confronts the violence of forced conformity and the impossible choices faced by those deemed disposable.
