Muhammad and Larry is a documentary following the October 1980 heavyweight championship bout between Muhammad Ali and Larry Holmes. At 38, Ali pursued an unprecedented fourth title despite widespread doubt from fans, friends, and sportswriters who saw his confidence as delusional. Filmmakers Albert and David Maysles captured Ali's desperate bid to prove he remained "The Greatest," even as his body betrayed him. Meanwhile, they documented Holmes, the mild-mannered champion and former sparring partner, preparing to end the career of a man he genuinely loved. The film is an intimate portrait of two fighters caught between friendship and ambition, documenting Ali's final grasp at glory against the odds stacked against him.
