Shikast(1953)

Shikast is an Indian drama about a doctor who returns to his village after seven years away. Dr. Ram Singh plans to sell his land and leave for the city, but discovers the local peasants suffering under the cruel rule of a landlord and his sister, Sushma. Faced with their exploitation, Singh must decide whether to abandon his escape or fight for the villagers' rights. The film explores themes of social responsibility and moral choice against a backdrop of rural injustice, capturing the tension between personal ambition and community duty.
