Im Parterre links is a Swiss comedy film following Karl Wieser, a meek Zurich tram driver whose life changes when he's selected to demonstrate a tram to foreign dignitaries. His wife Anni suddenly treats him with newfound respect, and his mother grows even prouder of their family's supposed achievements: Helen's advantageous marriage in America, Inge's promising singing career, and Herbert's medical studies. Yet beneath this façade of success lies a web of delusions and fabrications. As the family's carefully constructed image begins to unravel, Karl must navigate the gap between their invented reality and the truth.
