The Vets(2019)

The Vets follows Nico, a rural veterinarian in France's Morvan region, as he battles to keep his struggling clinic afloat while holding his family together. When his mentor Michel announces retirement, Nico discovers his replacement is Alexandra, a brilliant but misanthropic recent graduate who has no intention of returning to her childhood village. Caught between his desperation to save the practice and Alexandra's fierce resistance to small-town life, Nico must find a way to convince her to stay. The film captures the tension between rural isolation and ambition, exploring whether duty and necessity can overcome a younger generation's desire to escape.
