Pull My Daisy is a 1959 experimental film that captures the spirit of the Beat Generation. Based on an incident from the life of Beat icon Neal Cassady and his wife, painter Carolyn, the story follows a railway brakeman whose evening takes a chaotic turn when his wife invites a respected bishop to dinner. His bohemian friends crash the party, creating comic mayhem. Directed by Robert Frank and Alfred Leslie, the film was adapted by Jack Kerouac from the third act of his play Beat Generation, with Kerouac providing improvised narration. The result is a raw, unpolished portrait of 1950s counterculture that remains a landmark work of avant-garde cinema.
