Eomung(2019)

Eomung is a South Korean drama about Sook-ja, a haenyeo (female diver) in Jeju Island who faces terminal cancer with quiet defiance. When her son Yool—a young man with literary ambitions—discovers her illness, he's devastated to find she refuses treatment and continues her dangerous work in the water. Desperate to change her mind, Yool abandons his dream of becoming a writer and seeks employment through his brother-in-law, hoping financial stability might convince her to seek help. The film traces the collision between a mother's stubborn will to live on her own terms and a son's helpless love, set against the rugged beauty of Jeju's diving communities.
