Kontinuasom(2009)

Kontinuasom follows Beti, a dancer with Cape Verde's Raiz di Polon company, as she grapples with a life-changing offer to perform in Lisbon. The opportunity forces her to confront the identity crisis that defines the Cape Verdean diaspora—the pull between leaving and returning home. Doubts and nostalgia consume her as she weighs ambition against belonging. The film explores the universal tension faced by Cape Verdeans across generations: the desire to seek opportunity abroad versus the deep roots binding them to their island. Through music and dance, Kontinuasom captures the emotional complexity of migration, displacement, and cultural identity. It's a meditation on what it means to build a life when home exists in two places at once.
