The Moment of the Sunrise is a war film set during the pivotal Battle of Hengbao, fought from September to October 1949. As soldiers of the Chinese People's Liberation Army's Fourth Field Army engage in brutal combat, the newly founded People's Republic of China holds its founding ceremony. The film chronicles the sacrifice and courage of these troops during a transformative moment in Chinese history, capturing both the personal cost of war and the nation-building that unfolds in parallel. Through their struggle, the soldiers become witnesses to and participants in one of the twentieth century's most significant political transitions.
