Only One Night(1939)

Only One Night is a silent film about Valdemar, a fairground worker unaware that he is the illegitimate son of wealthy landowner Colonel Von Brede. The colonel, knowing the truth, employs Valdemar as his stable master while keeping the secret hidden. Tension builds when Valdemar encounters Eva, the colonel's beautiful young ward. As the two grow closer, the question becomes whether their budding romance can survive the revelation of Valdemar's true parentage and his complicated place within the colonel's household. The film explores themes of class, identity, and forbidden love against the backdrop of early cinema's melodramatic sensibility.
