An ever accelerating surrealism towards the end

Portland is a Danish crime film following a young criminal attempting to escape his lifestyle while inadvertently pulling his younger brother deeper into the underworld. The premise explores the tension between idealism and survival, but the execution falters. The dialogue lacks authenticity—characters sound polished rather than hardened by street life. Characterization feels thin, with bikers stripped of genuine personality and regional texture. As the narrative progresses, surreal elements creep in, creating tonal confusion that compounds the film's sluggish pacing. Despite these shortcomings, glimpses emerge of a more compelling story about family loyalty and moral compromise that Portland never quite manages to realize.
