The Detective's Peril(1916)
The Detective's Peril is a silent film built on breathtaking stunts and narrow escapes. A detective hangs helplessly from a rope strung across railroad tracks as an oncoming train bears down, threatening to sever the line and send him plummeting to his death. Helen's quick thinking saves him—she swings out over the river on the opposite end of the rope, using her weight to counterbalance his until the train passes. The danger doesn't end there. While pursuing the culprits aboard a moving freight car, Helen risks her life again, hurling a lasso to snag the brake beam and then crawling hand over hand across the speeding train's roof. The film showcases daring practical action and the resourcefulness of its heroine in the face of relentless peril.
