The Frontier Trail(1926)

The Frontier Trail is a western that follows Dolly Mainard as she travels to Fort Blaine under cavalry escort, guided by scout Jim Cardigan through hostile Sioux territory. When Captain Blackwell provokes Chief Gray Wolf's tribe, Jim is sent to negotiate peace but is captured. A renegade scout named Donlin intercepts Jim's warning message and deliberately tears it, causing a catastrophic misunderstanding that leads to the cavalry's destruction. Jim escapes and is court-martialed for treason, facing execution. He breaks free to rescue Dolly, her father, and Blackwell from Donlin's gang, ultimately discovering the torn note in Donlin's possession—proof of his innocence. The film resolves with Jim exonerated and Dolly choosing to stay by his side.
