Animal Husbandry(2008)
Animal Husbandry is a film adaptation of a 1931 play, performed in modern dress. Tom Collier stuns his wealthy father Rufus, lawyer Owen Arthur, and meddling neighbor Grace Macomber when he announces his engagement to Cecelia Henry, a respectable woman from a poor background. The announcement sets off a cascade of romantic complications involving the assembled cast of characters. A period comedy of manners transplanted to contemporary times, the film captures the original play's sharp dialogue and social commentary while updating its setting. Tensions rise as family expectations, class differences, and personal ambitions collide, creating a whirlwind of intrigue that tests Tom's resolve and challenges everyone's assumptions about love and respectability.
