A Far Shore(2023)

A Far Shore is a Japanese drama following Aoi, a high school dropout raising a young son in Okinawa with her husband Masaya. When Masaya loses his job and struggles with family responsibilities, their immaturity and inability to cope push the marriage toward collapse. Aoi turns to work as a nightclub hostess to support them, but mounting tensions and frequent arguments accelerate their social decline. As their relationship fractures, Aoi's deep connection to her son becomes her anchor, driving her to seek a way forward for their family. The film explores themes of youth, hardship, and maternal devotion against the backdrop of rural Japan.
