Beggars(2020)

Beggars is a Russian comedy following Artyom and Slava, two Moscow State University students scraping by on meager scholarships and grandmother-sent stipends. One studies history, the other physics—neither has money, connections, or prospects beyond youthful optimism and sharp wit. When they need to raise 40,000 rubles in two weeks to enter a prestigious Roscosmos competition with their innovative project, their resourcefulness gets tested. In Moscow's expensive landscape, the sum seems trivial; for broke second-year students, it's an impossible mountain. The film tracks their desperate, comedic scramble to fund their dreams, balancing humor against the grinding reality of poverty and ambition in modern Russia.
