Changing Emma(2014)

Changing Emma is a coming-of-age film about a struggling high school student drowning in academic failure and family turmoil. When Emma flunks her year and befriends the charismatic Taja, she spirals into truancy. Her parents issue an ultimatum: find an activity to keep her occupied. A poster for school television auditions catches her eye, and Emma decides to audition on a whim. She discovers a vibrant world of creative peers with real ambitions, but also one rife with competition and jealousy. As Emma navigates this unfamiliar terrain, she must learn whether she can find her footing among driven students who take their craft seriously, or if old habits will pull her back down.
