Egon
Egon(2013)
Egon is an experimental film that captures the final days of Austrian painter Egon Schiele, whose life unravels as influenza symptoms blur the boundaries between reality and artistic vision. Choreographer Stuart transforms Schiele's stylised portraits into a transparent movement language, bringing his haunting imagery to life while the painter edges toward death. The rawly expressive and confrontational visuals mirror the power of Schiele's own drawings and paintings, moving sometimes in sync with and sometimes against Alexander von Zemlinsky's score. The result is a visceral meditation on art, mortality, and the tormented inner world of one of early twentieth-century Austria's most provocative artists.
