Hideous Creatures(1993)

Hideous Creatures is a Brazilian science-fiction horror film in which Dr. Rottenberg, a Martian scientist, arrives on Earth to orchestrate an invasion using reanimated corpses, Martian zombies, and unsuspecting teenagers. Shot on VHS in the early 1990s, the film became a landmark of Brazil's underground cinema, distributed through bootleg tapes sold at grindcore, death metal, and punk shows. Assembled entirely through analog video-to-video editing, Hideous Creatures captures the raw, lo-fi aesthetic of shot-on-video horror and achieved cult status within the national underground music scene. The film's guerrilla production methods and grassroots distribution strategy made it one of the first Brazilian SOV releases to gain genuine national reach beyond traditional theatrical channels.
