Jeet(1949)

Jeet is an Indian drama set in the years following independence, when a village begins to modernize. Two childhood sweethearts, Jeet and Vijay, find their bond tested when Vijay's brother Ratan returns from abroad with ambitious plans for progress. After discovering that Vijay is not his biological brother, Ratan forces him from the house and sets his sights on marrying Jeet instead. To eliminate his rival, Ratan conspires with villagers to frame Vijay for sabotaging his development schemes. As Vijay struggles to clear his name and reclaim his place, the film explores themes of honor, ambition, and the clash between tradition and progress in post-colonial India.
