Lest We Forget(1991)
Lest We Forget is a 1986 documentary compilation featuring 30 French filmmakers, including Alain Resnais and Jean-Luc Godard, united in advocacy for political prisoners. Commissioned by Amnesty International, the collection of short films spotlights the case of Thomas Wanggai, a West Papuan activist imprisoned for his political beliefs. Godard and Anne-Marie Miéville's contribution focuses directly on Wanggai's detention and the broader struggle for his release. The project harnesses cinema as a tool for human rights activism, combining the artistic vision of France's most influential directors to amplify urgent calls for justice and freedom.
