Manouche(1943)

Manouche is a French drama following Pierre, a medical student forced to abandon his studies due to financial hardship. When he vanishes for months, his fiancée succumbs to the advances of a carefree suitor and spirals into a dissolute lifestyle she comes to despise. Upon Pierre's return, he finds her distant and ashamed, unable to trust him again. Desperate and broken, she attempts to take her own life. Pierre intervenes, saving her and nursing her back to health. The film explores themes of poverty, redemption, and the fragile nature of love tested by circumstance and time.
