Ratchet(1996)
Ratchet is a psychological thriller about screenwriter Elliot Callahan, who retreats to a beachside house on Nantucket to escape studio pressure and meet a looming deadline. There he encounters Henry Carver, an intense aspiring writer eager to share his screenplay. As Callahan reads Henry's work, he grows convinced it's a confessional account of serial murders—and becomes dangerously tempted to steal the material for his own script. The film explores the collision between creative desperation and moral compromise, as Callahan finds himself drawn into Henry's shadowy world. What begins as a quiet escape becomes a tense psychological game where the line between fiction and reality blurs, and the stakes grow increasingly sinister.
