Rose(2012)

Rose is a harrowing survival drama set in post-war Poland. The film follows Rose, a Masurian widow whose German soldier husband was killed in combat, leaving her vulnerable and alone on their isolated farm. As Russian forces sweep through the region seeking revenge, and desperate Polish plunderers descend on the countryside, Rose faces brutal threats from all sides. Her only hope comes from Tadeusz, a former Polish Home Army officer hiding a dark past. Tadeusz deserted after witnessing his own wife's rape and murder by Russian troops, and now lives in shadow, concealing his true identity. As Rose and Tadeusz's lives intersect, both must navigate the moral complexities and violence of a fractured post-war landscape where survival demands impossible choices.
