Stillborn(2011)

Stillborn is a Brazilian drama about a talent scout who brings a young singer to São Paulo for an audition with a celebrated conductor. Confined to a hotel room as they wait, the scout passes time with coffee and cigarettes, reading omens in the warning labels on cigarette packs like tarot cards. The film slowly unravels his true motives through their tense, intimate exchanges. Director Gustavo Pizzi crafts a psychological portrait of ambition and manipulation, where the boundary between mentorship and exploitation blurs.
