Tofu(2017)

Tofu is a fantasy film set during China's Han Dynasty. Liu An, the royal lord of Huainan, becomes obsessed with achieving immortality through alchemical means. He orders beans collected to craft pills believed to grant eternal life, but the experiment goes awry. The beans transform into humanoid beings, upending the lord's plans and forcing him to reckon with the unintended consequences of his ambition. The film blends historical setting with magical realism as Liu An navigates this strange new reality born from his relentless pursuit of the impossible.
