Hitoya no Toge(2017)

Hitoya no Toge is a Japanese drama series following Ryota Takeshima, a prison officer at Kitakanto Prison who has inherited his father's career. Frustrated by widespread corruption among his colleagues—who turn a blind eye to bullying and gambling within the facility—Ryota sees an opportunity for change when Soichi Nakui arrives as the newly appointed prison chief. Soichi tasks Ryota with a dangerous mission: root out the systemic corruption that has poisoned the institution. As Ryota pursues reform, he must navigate the entrenched interests of corrupt officers while exposing the dark underbelly of prison life. The series explores themes of institutional corruption, moral courage, and the personal cost of standing against a broken system.
