Disco(1971)
Disco is a German pop music program that aired on ZDF from 1971 to 1982, reaching younger audiences with chart hits and Schlager. Hosted by Ilja Richter, the monthly 45-minute show featured equal airtime for international pop and German music, though it wasn't strictly focused on disco despite its name. The program aired 133 episodes on the first Saturday of each month at 7:30PM, competing directly with Beat-Club and Musikladen on rival network ARD. Disco built on ZDF's earlier music series 4-3-2-1 Hot & Sweet and offered a pop-oriented alternative to the network's established Hitparade. The show's legacy extended decades beyond its original run, with reruns broadcast on ZDF Musikkanal, 3sat, ZDF Theaterkanal, and ZDF Dokukanal, introducing the series to new generations of viewers.
