The Mad Phoenix(1999)

The Mad Phoenix is a series following Kong, who returns to his hometown and abandons his medical ambitions to become a teacher. In his spare time, Kong develops a passion for Cantonese opera, particularly the performances of celebrated singer Sit Gok-Seen. He begins composing songs and plays, pitching his work to Sit, whose recognition of Kong's talent leads to an invitation to join his opera company as a playwright. The series traces Kong's artistic awakening and his transformation from aspiring doctor to creative force within the vibrant world of traditional Cantonese theatre.
