Haters Gonna Stay follows Qiu, an art film enthusiast whose career prospects brighten when he lands a role in the experimental film "Looking Away." His romantic life with girlfriend Enni seems stable, yet he's plagued by insecurity and the constant fear she'll abandon him. When his grandfather Qiu Haifan unexpectedly arrives, the household descends into chaos. The older man's difficult temperament and troublemaking nature upend Qiu's fragile equilibrium, forcing him to navigate competing demands from his career ambitions, romantic anxieties, and family obligations.
