Search(1972)
Search is an American science fiction series that premiered on NBC in September 1972, running for 23 episodes through August 1973. Created by Leslie Stevens, the show followed a high-concept premise of "science fiction in today's world," blending futuristic technology with contemporary settings. Originally developed as a two-hour pilot called Probe, the series was retitled when NBC discovered a PBS show already used that name. Each Wednesday night episode showcased cutting-edge gadgetry and surveillance concepts that would later become staples of the sci-fi genre. In the UK, the BBC broadcast Search under the alternate title Search Control. Despite its innovative premise and strong production team, including Robert Justman and Tony Spinner, the series concluded after just one season, leaving behind a cult following among science fiction enthusiasts.
