55 Degrees North is a British crime drama following Nicky Cole, a self-deprecating detective with a sharp sense of humour who joins a night shift homicide unit in Newcastle. Eager to do solid police work, Nicky quickly discovers that competence doesn't guarantee acceptance. His new colleagues regard him with suspicion, and his boss DI Carter makes little effort to welcome him. Despite his unorthodox methods, Nicky remains committed to solving cases and pursuing justice, even when it costs him friendships among the squad. The series explores the tension between doing the right thing and fitting in within a tight-knit, skeptical team.
