Tsui no Sumika is a Japanese series following Asakura Tomoko, an ambitious but arrogant rookie reporter at a Tokyo newspaper. Armed with an MBA from America, she excels with data but struggles to connect with her interview subjects—a flaw that has earned her a reputation as unqualified. Determined to prove herself, Tomoko pitches a story on home nursing care, drawing from memories of her grandfather. What begins as a redemption arc quickly darkens when she confronts the brutal realities of elder care and uncovers a troubling pattern: a series of unexplained deaths among elderly patients. As Tomoko digs deeper, her investigation becomes personal, forcing her to reckon with both the system's failures and her own shortcomings as a journalist.
